NFL player starts nonprofit to help student athletes find careers after sports, reports ABC13.

There comes a time when athletes have to hang up the cleats. A Houston native, in his fourth season in the NFL, launched a nonprofit aimed to set up young student-athletes for life after the game.

According to 10TV, non profit Per Scholas seeks to provide technology equity for under-served communities. 

Non-profits often try to make a positive impact on their respective community. Some work toward equity and a level playing field for those in marginalized or under-served communities.

According to Biz Journals, Last Mile Food Rescue uses technology to acquire perishable food that can be distributed to those in need. 

Julie Shifman is not the kind of person to back down from a challenge. When she saw an opportunity to launch a new nonprofit — Last Mile Food Rescue, which uses tech to rescue perishable food to distribute to those in need — she jumped at the chance, leaving her job to focus on the new venture full time. 

Nonprofit SightSavers America is helping Texas children get access to high tech vision aids, reports KTXS 12.

This week, over 50 children will receive eye examinations and new vision technology thanks to some help from nonprofit organization sight savers.
