When businesses are created, the founder hires the necessary people to help his company thrive. He hires an accountant, a marketing director, a salesperson, IT help, etc. Founders of nonprofit organizations, don't necessarily have the money to hire these professionals. Thus, they rely on volunteers who may not have the educational background or the experience to accomplish these tasks. That's where Aplos comes in.

How many runners or cyclists do you know? In fact, you may be a runner yourself. You may participate in charity sponsored 5Ks or have recently donated money to those that are. With marathon season coming up, runners are gearing up to run 26.2 miles, many running on behalf of numerous charities and nonprofit organizations. But now, thanks to Charity Miles, every mile you run or walk, 25 cents will be donated to a nonprofit of your choice. Rather cycle? 10 cents for every mile will be donated. With over 30 charities participating, you'll be donating to a worthwhile cause.

There are numerous factors that go into starting a nonprofit organization. First it's the idea, then the plans on how to implement the idea, the money needed to start the foundation, and the donors who continuously breath life in the organization. Once a foundation has been established, the organizers must create a website, a community, a fundraising campaign, and figure out how to keep track of the donors that come in. Nationbuilder hopes to be all of this and more.

Donor retention is required to run a successful fundraising campaign. Not only will it raise more money for a charity or nonprofit in the long run, it takes a lot of the leg work out of the equation, freeing up more time and energy to focus on other aspects of the organization than just raising funds. Crowdfunding has been an important part of nonprofit organizations and charities for the past five years. It's a way for organizations to raise money for their cause without having to spend much-needed and often times limited resources to gain donors' attention. From one of the very first crowdfunding websites, ArtistShare (2006) to other popular crowdfunding platforms such as Indigogo, Kickstarter, and GoFundMe, local and international charities and nonprofits have been reaching and exceeding their goals to fund projects that help those in need. Infact, according to the Huffington Post, $1.6 billion was raised through crowdsourcing in 2012.

Donor-advised funds (DAFs) have been a convenient way for a company or individual to donate money to a charity or nonprofit organization of their choice for years. Despite the ease of donating through a DAF, many companies and people instead chose to donate through check, cash, and credit cards.
